Check up & Cleans
Regular dental check ups are important for keeping your mouth and teeth healthy. Check ups are also a great opportunity to ask questions and receive advice on how to keep your mouth healthy between visits. We recommend 6 monthly check ups and cleans for most people so that we can detect and treat problems early, before they become more serious and expensive to treat.
What does a check up involve?
During a check up, your dentist will determine the health of your teeth and gums. They will check for any signs of disease, such as cavities and gingivitis. Your dentist will also check for signs of clenching and grinding which can damage your teeth. This allows us to create an oral health plan that is tailored for you. Some people require more regular care, while others need less frequent checks.
During your check up we will listen to your needs and professionally clean your teeth to remove any built-up calculus and staining.
Do you provide check ups for children?
What if I have sensitive teeth?
We have a number of different options available to keep you comfortable during your visit. These include happy gas (nitrous oxide sedation) and topical numbing to reduce your sensitivity for general cleans.
You can try these simple tips at home to reduce generalised sensitivity:
- Use sensitive toothpaste each time you brush
- Avoid whitening toothpaste
- Avoid rinsing your mouth after brushing
